More witnesses need to come forward

Police are asking people if they saw a man with a BB gun cycling in Farley Hill.

They want people to think back to Thursday, August 7, when they were called to Leyhill Drive after a member of the public reported seeing a man with a gun.

They arrested a man on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear, and later bailed him pending further inquiries.

Officers want anyone who saw the man to come forward with information.

Det Con Vicki Wright, in charge of the investigation, said: "We know there was a group of young people in Leyhill Drive that afternoon between 12 noon and 7.30pm who may have seen this man, and we also believe he spoke to a young boy who was on the park behind Leyhill Drive.

"These people have nothing to fear by coming forward and speaking to the police, but they may hold vital information relating to this incident."

Anyone with any information about the incident should call Det Con Wright at Luton Police Station on 01582 401212, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
