Man and two women sought over attack
A taxi driver needed hospital treatment after he was attacked with a bottle and a steering lock following a dispute over a fare.

The driver had picked up a man from Castle Croft Road just after 4am, and was asked to drive to Flame nightclub in Wellington Street, where two women got in.

He then took his passengers back to the Farley Hill area, where he was asked to stop in Cades Close. One of the women got out of the taxi but when the driver asked for payment the man disputed the fare and then got out of the car with the second woman.

The driver followed them along Whipperley Ring and when he got out of his car the man assaulted him with a bottle and a steering lock before running off along Delphine Close and into Market Square.

The taxi driver was treated at the Luton & Dunstable Hospital and has since been released.

His attacker is described as white, 22 to 24 years old, of slim build and about 5ft 7ins tall. He wore a white shirt and black trousers.

Anyone with any information about the incident should telephone Det Con Duncan Crighton at Luton CID on 01582 394341, or Crimestopers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
