Help to reduce casualty toll on Beds roads

Motorcylists in Luton are being urged to help test a stretch of road between Flitwick and Stotfold on Saturday, August 16.

Bikers from all over Bedfordshire will take part in the safety ride-out, after which they will give feedback to highway safety engineers about the condition of the road between the One-O-One (A5120) roundabout, Flitwick, and the A1(M) junction, Stotfold, and suggest how it can be improved to benefit riders.

During the past five years, there have been 24 collisions on this route involving motorcyclists and highway safety engineers want to hear from riders themselves, regardless of whether or not they use the route regularly, to find out the potential hazards they face.

It is hoped that the feedback will assist Bedfordshire Highways in the development of a safety scheme to reduce the casualty toll.

The ride will begin at Redborne Upper School south car park, Flitwick Road, Ampthill, with riders leaving at intervals between 9.30am and 3pm.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
