Society celebrates 21st birthday with awards scheme
Countryside campaigners are celebrating 21 years of protecting rural Bedfordshire, with an awards scheme for buildings and landscape projects.

The Countryside and Design Awards are being held by the Bedfordshire branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), and the closing date for entries is the end of September.

The society wants to recognise projects in both the built and natural environment that contribute to people's enjoyment of the Bedfordshire landscape.

Award categories include educational projects, landscape improvements, new buildings, restorations and conversions, and projects must have been completed between January 2004 and September 2008.

The awards will be presented in December. To apply, click here.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
