Moody hits unbeaten ton in 10-wicket triumph

Ian Moody and Geoff Baines shared a 200-run opening stand as Dunstable Town crushed Ickwell by 10 wickets in the Bedfordshire County League Premier Division.

Moody finished on 122 not out and Baines on 73 not out as Dunstable reached their victory target with 12 overs remaining.

Earlier, Ickwell had been bowled out for 196.

Luton Town & Indians closed the gap on leaders Vauxhall Motors to 15 points with a three-wicket victory in the top of the table clash.

Mohammed Irshad made an unbeaten 34 and Asif Khan and Zaheer Khan chipped in with 27 and 22 respectively as Motors were restricted to 169-7 in their 46 overs, Divyesh Patel the pick of the Town attack with 2-23 from 10 tight overs.

Left-arm spinner Irshad then took 2-27 and Ahtzad Ahmed 2-43, but they could not prevent Town from sneaking home in the final over, Nitin Parsooth there at the end on 32 with Hitesh Patel and Jeremy Page contributing 43 and 28.

In Division One, Dunstable IIs were easily beaten by Southill Park.
Matt Reed top-scored for Dunstable with 42 in their under-par total of 117 before Southill replied with 118-4 to win by six wickets.

Luton Town & Indians IIs emulated their first team as they got the better of Vauxhall Motors IIs by 78 runs.

Silas Charles was the star for Town as his innings of 87 helped them to a total of 226-9.

Peter Bonham, 42, and David Morgan Jnr, 32, chipped in before Manjit Singh, 4-42, and Jasjit Sobti, 3-13, made inroads into the Motors line-up, dismissing them for 148.

Dunstable IIIs went down by 77 runs to Division Four leaders Kempston Sports.

Kempston made 238-6, a total that proved beyond Dunstable who were bowled out for 161, Andy Gypps hitting 54.

Luton Town & Indians IIIs thrashed Harrold IIs by 92 runs.
Shamil Chauhan, 62, top-scored in Town's 219-5, a total that proved beyond Harrold who subsided to 127 all out, Masud Rafiq taking 4-20.

Saturday's Saracens Herts League programme was decimated by the weather with hardly any games across the 14 divisions beating the rain.

Luton Town & Indians' first and third team games were cancelled without a ball being bowled, as were all four of Dunstable Town's scheduled fixtures.

Town & Indians IIs had reached 55-0, Manish Patel hitting a quickfire 45, in their Division Five encounter with Sandridge before the elements interfered.

Town IVs managed 13 overs against Datchworth in Division Thirteen before the rain came. Town were 56-1 when the game was abandoned.

Houghton Town came out on top in a low-scoring affair against Luton Hatters in the Millman Competition Sunday League.

Batting first, Houghton were bowled out for a poor 94 but this was more than adequate as the Hatters were rolled over for just 61.

Raja Max did the damage for Houghton with 5-16, while Syed Ali collected figures of 3-13 from 10 overs.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
