Barton racer starts from fifth on grid in Scotland

Barton biker Steven Neate produced one of his best rides of the season to claim a 10th place finish at the tight and twisty Scottish Knockhill circuit.

Neate just missed out on a pole psotion by two hundredths of a second during a wet qualifying session, but his fifth place on the grid was still his best of the year so far.

He was up with the leaders in the early laps, before the battle was split into two groups and, as he made his way to the front of the second group on lap eight, he ran wide at the hairpin and lost ground in the latter stages.

He said: "I was really pleased with how the weekend went. We have qualified very well and, whilst I wasn't quite fast enough to run at the very front in the dry, we have been really competitive over most of the weekend.

"This has been a much better race for us, and my start was also a lot better, so I feel quite confident that things are on the up."

Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
