New nature garden to help boost learning
Pupils at a primary school in Luton will be able to take a walk on the wild side, after a special new nature garden was given a special opening.

The garden, at Beech Hill Primary in Dunstable Road, was unveiled by the town's deputy mayor, Councillor Khtija Malik.

Councillor Malik said: "This is a wonderful opportunity for children to learn about their local habitat.

"We need to encourage them from an early age to care for their local surroundings, particularly in the current climate when we all need to play our part in helping to preserve the environment."

And headteacher Michael John said: "It is lovely to see our children having an opportunity to learn in a peaceful environment.

"I am sure everyone will enjoy the benefits the wildlife garden will bring."

Teachers can now teach science lessons in the new nature spot, which has been designed to attract different animals, including bats, butterflies and hedgehogs.

Funding came from the Lottery Fund, which awarded the Beech Hill £9,650 last year.

Today's Vote

Should worldwide tours of the Olympic flame be abandoned to stop giving protestors an easy target
Yes, it's a pointless stunt anyway and would not be missed
No, you can't give in to bully tactics from any quarter
Bring on more protests, they are more entertaining than the sport
